Police arrested Niranam Gram Panchayat president K P Punnoose for illegal foreign currency dealings.

Police detained Punnoose Saturday evening on the basis of Vimal Raj's, who arrested for transiting foreign currency equal to 18 crores, statement. Vimal has said police that the money belongs to Punnoose. The seized currency was Yugoslav Dinar (Yum).

Police will present Punnoose at Thiruvalla court while Vimal Raj will be handed over to Central Enforcement.

Meanwhile, BJP and DYFI workers marched to police station. They accused that police is delaying further actions.

K P Punnoose is the brother of K P Yohannan, Metropolitan of Believers Church.
