Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Govind Mukkaji Rathod died of cardiac arrest on Sunday evening. The newly-elected MLA from Nanded suffered the cardiac arrest while he was travelling in a train to Mumbai.

The legislator's death comes as a blow to the BJP unit in Maharashtra as the party is yet to form government in the state and the death of one of its MLAs would bring down its tally to 134.

Rathod was a resident of Mukhed in Nanded.
