Motor vehicle workers have started their strike

Trade unions of motor vehicle workers have started their strike to protest the recent hike in the cost of petroleum products.

The strike would cover private buses, taxis. autorickshaws and transport trucks. The KSRTC would continue with its services in the state.

CITU State General Secretary Elamaram Karim and INTUC State President, R Chandrasekharan, said that private vehicles would not be prevented from plying. The KSRTC is expected to increase its services in order to help stranded passengers at railway stations and airports.
