Free from fear, students have Transport Commissioner

Students got a major relief when they received an assurance from Transport Commissioner, Rishiraj Singh, on protection against harassment over concession and other hassles that they face in private buses in the state. Singh has promised strict action against buses which students complain against.

The Transport Commissioner has also given his mobile number to the students to file complaints if they have any. He was interacting with students of Providence College after inaugurating a public traffic awareness programme.

After hearing grievances of the students he said that steps will be taken against erring bus operators. Action will also be taken against buses that skip bus stops to avoid students. He also advised girl students to react boldly against bus conductors and cleaners who misbehave with them.

Rajeev Puthalath, RTO, also took part in the function. Three short films were also exhibited in the programme organised by Lions Club International Districts 318 E in association with Kerala Police, Transport Division and National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (NATPAC).

Vice Principal, Providence College, Sister Sheeja presided over the function. K T Ajith, M Sreejith, Abhirami Padma, among others spoke in the function.
