Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Sunday that the government was ready for talks with the LDF if the Opposition desired so ahead of the indefinite Secretariat siege from Monday.
“The Central forces won't be pressed into action if the protest is peaceful. The forces were called to protect the public. The statements of LDF leaders Pinarayi (Vijayan) and Kodiyeri (Balakrishnan) that the stir will be peaceful are welcome. At the same time LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan has gone on record that no one will be allowed to enter Secretariat. This will lead to breakdown of administrative machinery,” said Chandy.
The Chief Minister reiterated that there will not be any provocation on the part of the government. He was quick to add that no one will be allowed to disrupt law and order.
“The arrangements to foil the blockade has been done keeping in view the needs of the public,” said Chandy.
Chandy also repeated that the exchequer did not suffer any loss in the solar scam.
