Notorious criminal Ripper Jayanandan, who escaped from the Poojappura Central Jail on June 10 was held from Nellayi, Puthukkad Thrissur on Monday while awaiting for a bus. Two convicts Jayanandan and Prakashan escaped from the Poojappura Central Jail on June 10.Prakashan was held from Kayamkulam on June 18.
Jayanandan is an accused in 7 murder cases, including a double murder and 14 robbery cases. Jayanandan, who escaped from Kannur prison earlier, was nabbed from Ootty and was shifted to Poojappura special cell citing security. He tried to break jail when he was in Viyoor too. Jayanandan and Prakashan escaped by making dummies and covering it in the cell.
Jayanandan, hailing from Mala in Thrissur district, was awarded capital punishment by the trial court for brutal murders, which was later reduced to life imprisonment by the high court. He committed all murders during the burglary attempts in which many people were hurt seriously too.
