Dr Babu Sebastian has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of MG University. The Governor has signed the order regarding the appointment.

Presently, Dr Babu is the director of the State Institute of Education Technology. He was a faculty member (Malayalam) of Saint Thomas College, Pala.

Dr P. Prasanna Kumar from Kerala University and Nanotechnology expert Dr. Sabu Thomas were among the people considered for the post.

Previous VC of MG University, Dr. A.V. George, was removed by former Governor Sheila Dikshit in May on the grounds that he was not eligible to hold the post.

Dr Babu was nominated by the Kerala Congress.
