The government is planning to take strict measures to foil plans by the opposition to place the Secretariat under siege from Monday.
The opposition is planning the blockade to demand the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. While the opposition would try all means at its disposal to highlight the blockade as a show of strength and public resentment against the government, the government is expected to take all precautionary measures to make the blockade a non event.
It is expected that the government would use prohibitory orders, preventive arrests and other precautionary means to frustrate plans of the opposition. It is believed that the state police has already submitted its report to the Government recommending prohibitive orders.
A clear picture of the situation is expected by evening on Friday or early Saturday.
