ഷിക്കാഗോ­: 1997 മുതല്‍ 2014 വരെ ഷിക്കാഗോ­ ആര്‍ച്ച് ബിഷപ്പായിരുന്ന കര്‍ദിനാള്‍ ഫ്രാന്‍സിസ് ജോര്‍ജ് ഷിക്കാഗോ­യിലുളള വസതിയില്‍കാലം ചെയ്തു. ഷിക്കാഗൊ ആര്‍ച്ച് ഡയോസിസ് മരണം സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു. 1997 ല്‍ ജോണ്‍ പോള്‍ രണ്ടാമനാണ് ഷിക്കാഗോ­ ആര്‍ച്ച് ബിഷപ്പായി നിയമിച്ചത്. 1998 ല്‍ കോളേജ് ഓഫ് കര്‍ദിനാള്‍ ഡിലേക്ക് സ്ഥാനകയറ്റം നല്‍കി. 2007 ല്‍ യുഎസ് കാത്തലിക്ക് ബിഷപ്പുമാരുടെ പ്രസിഡന്റായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. നികുതിദായകരുടെ പണം ഗര്‍ഭചിദ്രത്തിന് ഉപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ അനുമതി നല്‍കുന്ന ഒബാമയ്‌ക്കെതിരെ ബിഷപ്പുമാരുടെ പ്രതിഷേധം സമന്വയിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് കര്‍ദിനാള്‍ ഫ്രാന്‍സിസ് ജോര്‍ജ് നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കി.

ഷിക്കാഗൊയില്‍ വളര്‍ന്ന് ഷിക്കാഗൊ ആര്‍ച്ച് ബിഷപ്പായി ആദ്യ കര്‍ദ്ദിനാള്‍ എന്ന ബഹുമതി ഫ്രാന്‍സിസ് ജോര്‍ജിനായിരുന്നു. സമാധാനത്തിന്റേയും ധീരതയുടേയും സന്ദേശവാഹകനായിരുന്നു കാലം ചെയ്ത കര്‍ദ്ദിനാള്‍ എന്ന ഷിക്കാഗൊ ആര്‍ച്ച് ബിഷപ്പ് ബ്ലാസി കപ്പുച്ച് പറഞ്ഞു. അടുത്ത ആഴ്ച കത്തിഡ്രല്‍ ചര്‍ച്ചില്‍ വെച്ച് സംസ്കാര ശുശ്രൂഷകള്‍ നടക്കും. ഏപ്രില്‍ 21, 22 തീയതികളില്‍ പൊതുദര്‍ശനവും ഏപ്രില്‍ 23 ന് ഫ്യൂണറല്‍ മാസും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും.
